Foundation
Super duper important for both stability and security is putting the coop on an impenetrable foundation.
Concrete blocks on top of pebbles provide a flexible but level base.
Blocks are partially sunk but stick out far enough above ground level that it keeps the wooden frame off the wet ground when it rains.
A 16-inch trench is lined with hardware cloth to foil digging predators like dogs, rats and possums.
Oh this was a lot of work…!
Frame Assembly
The important part about this step is getting everything square.
